What makes this movie Worth Watching
Released during the height of Dragon Ball Z's popularity, Wrath of the Dragon deviates slightly from the established canon, offering a standalone story. It's an example of the late-stage DBZ films that often prioritize spectacle and emotional moments over strict adherence to the manga's timeline, providing a self-contained adventure for fans.
- Taps into classic DBZ themes of protecting the innocent and pushing past limits.
- Introduces Tapion, a compelling and tragic character with a unique design and backstory.
- Features an incredible fight scene against Hirudegarn, showcasing visually stunning animation and powerful transformations.
- Provides a satisfying, albeit brief, focus on Trunks' character development and his heroic aspirations.
Fun Facts
- Tapion's design is heavily inspired by classic fantasy heroes, particularly those found in Legend of Zelda.
- Hirudegarn's ability to phase through objects is similar to Janemba's ability in the previous movie, 'Fusion Reborn'.
- This film marks the final time Gohan is seen as a child, as in the following film, Dragon Ball GT: A Hero's Legacy (1997), he is depicted as an adult.
