- The voice for the Grinch, Boris Karloff, was also known for his portrayal of Frankenstein's monster in films. The character of Cindy-Lou Who was created specifically for this adaptation. Many of the lines spoken by Max the Dog were improvised by voice actor Thurl Ravenscroft who is also famous for singing 'You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch'.
